We are looking for a Senior level environmental professional to support our Environmental Management and Assessment Team in one of our UK offices. Our portfolio spans sectors such as energy, aviation, nuclear, rail, property and Local Government. We need people with a creative spirit, a dedicated approach and a solid grounding in environmental design, assessment and management at any stage of the development project lifecycle.

As one of the largest environmental consultancies in the UK, WSP is involved in some of the most challenging and high-profile projects, from small developments to major national infrastructure schemes. Our Environmental Management and Assessment Team manages environmental inputs throughout project lifecycles, engaging early at concept and option stages to shape projects that respect sensitive environments and communities.

In this role, you will work with technical environmental specialists and design teams across multiple sectors to manage environmental inputs to project designs and assessments. You will influence and improve environmental performance across projects in rail, highways, energy, commercial and residential sectors from feasibility through to planning, detailed design, construction and handover/maintenance.

You will manage projects including bidding, team management, delivery and financial oversight. You will work with a great team across the UK where inspiring work and a fulfilling working life are priorities.

A typical week could include:
- Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues
- Collaborating with environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement
- Managing delivery of environmental inputs including EIA screening, scoping reports, constraints studies, management plans and Environmental Statements
- Overseeing project performance on technical, quality, commercial and health and safety aspects
- Building client relationships and identifying opportunities for support in resourcing, programming, strategy and delivery
- Supporting business development through proposals, strategic bids and new work activities
- Driving innovation through Digital EIA, Technical Excellence and Future Ready EIA initiatives
- Inspiring and upskilling junior colleagues
- Promoting an inclusive workplace and a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture
- Contributing to the success of WSP’s business strategy while being self-motivated towards role and team goals

Requirements

Experience
- Relevant environmental degree level qualification in EIA or similar
- Experience of EIA processes and working with limited supervision within multi-disciplinary teams
- Post-qualified experience coordinating environmental assessments on a variety of projects
- Knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation
- Experience in project management activities including commercial, risk, forecasting and quality assurance
- Experience in work winning and bid preparation
- Proven ability to liaise with cross-discipline teams, clients and external bodies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including detailed report writing
- Demonstrable experience promoting a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture

Qualifications
- Relevant environmental degree or equivalent qualification
- Achieved or working towards Chartered Environmental Status and full membership of IEMA or similar professional body
