About the Role
Wood PLC is seeking a Consultant to support the transport decarbonisation offer within our Sustainable Infrastructure business in the UK. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of transport decarbonisation technologies and options available to government clients. You will contribute to the delivery of a wide range of strategic transport projects across the UK and overseas, supporting the Transport Decarbonisation Technical Director with client engagement, bidding, and project delivery. The role involves diverse work covering all aspects of e-mobility and multi-modal studies including highways, cycling, walking, and public transport. Key Responsibilities
- Support projects where data is key to delivery, including demand and user analysis to identify optimal EV infrastructure and fleet deployment
- Understand and utilize available data for demand and user analysis
- Collaborate effectively across Wood’s business areas during bidding and project delivery
- Develop expertise in alternative fuels, particularly hydrogen
- Support the full bidding lifecycle as required
- Deliver projects on time, within budget, and exceeding client expectations
- Contribute to the development of the Transport Decarbonisation pipeline by creating new work and client opportunities
- Stay informed on market trends and industry best practices
- Conduct market research and analysis on emerging technologies and innovative business and customer solutions in transportation
- Assist with technical writing of vehicle specifications, supply chain, and business cases for fleet and transportation operations
Experience
- Relevant experience and understanding of low carbon transport technologies
- Experience within a consultancy environment is advantageous
- Experience working with Local Authority or Central Government clients is required
- Proven track record delivering smart-mobility projects
- Experience leading bid and proposal preparation
- Knowledge of transport modelling related to mobility solutions, EV infrastructure, and fleets is beneficial
- Experience researching and writing EV/Mobility strategies for clients, such as local authorities, is essential
- Understanding of challenges and opportunities in deploying EV infrastructure in relation to power grids is useful
About You
- Passionate about transport decarbonisation and its role in achieving broader societal, environmental, and government goals
- Ability to link transport decarbonisation projects directly to policies and initiatives such as transport strategies and COP26
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to work across teams and business areas
Qualifications
- Degree in Transport Planning, Engineering, Economics, or a related field
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications are highly desirable
