About the Role
Wood PLC is seeking a Senior Consultant to support the transport decarbonisation offer within our Sustainable Infrastructure business in the UK. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of transport decarbonisation technologies and options available to government clients. You will be involved in delivering a wide range of strategic transport projects across the UK and overseas, supporting the Transport Decarbonisation Technical Director with client engagement, bidding, and project delivery. The role covers all aspects of e-mobility and multi-modal studies including highways, cycling, walking, and public transport. Key responsibilities include leading projects where data is critical, such as demand and user analysis to identify optimal EV infrastructure and fleet deployment, ensuring effective collaboration across Wood’s business areas during bidding and project delivery, and further developing expertise in alternative fuels, particularly hydrogen. You will lead or support the full bidding lifecycle and project delivery to meet time, budget, and client expectations. Additionally, you will contribute to developing the Transport Decarbonisation pipeline by creating new work opportunities and clients, staying up to date with market and industry best practices, conducting market research on emerging technologies and innovative solutions, and assisting with technical writing related to vehicle specifications, supply chain, and business cases for fleet and transportation operations.

Experience
- Relevant experience and understanding of low carbon transport technologies
- Experience within a consultancy environment is advantageous
- Experience working with Local Authority and Central Government clients is required
- Proven track record delivering smart-mobility projects
- Experience leading the preparation of bids and proposals
- Experience researching and writing EV/Mobility strategies for clients (e.g. local authorities) is essential
- Understanding of transport modelling related to mobility solutions, EV infrastructure, and fleets is useful
- Knowledge of challenges and opportunities in deploying EV infrastructure in relation to power grids is beneficial

- Ability to link transport decarbonisation projects directly to policies and initiatives such as transport strategies and COP26
- Strong collaborative skills to work effectively across business areas and with clients
- Proactive in keeping up to date with market trends and emerging technologies

Qualifications
- Degree in Transport Planning, Engineering, Economics, or related field
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications are highly desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of public transit, transportation infrastructure, and energy transition
