As a Consultant within Wood's Sustainability Advisory team, you will focus on waste management and recycling, contributing to projects that support the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Wood has a long-established and evolving environmental consultancy business serving clients in the UK and internationally. This role is part of our Advisory Services team, delivering sustainability projects that encompass environmental policy, climate action, circular economy, waste management and decarbonisation. Our purpose is to unlock solutions that deliver a net-zero future and enable a more sustainable, resilient and liveable world.
A typical working week involves delivering solutions in waste management, circular economy, responsible consumption and sustainability, while advancing your professional development. You will lead and support clients across a wide range of waste management themes including municipal waste collection and treatment, analyse service effectiveness to identify improvements and savings, develop business cases for enhanced service delivery, and support procurement exercises such as contract assessments, tender specifications and bidder evaluations.

Experience
- Background in environmental science or sustainable resource management with enthusiasm for sustainable client solutions
- Understanding of UK and/or international waste legislation and policy
- Relevant consultancy or industry experience including waste management strategy development, waste collection modelling, procurement of waste management services, or circular economy business models
- Strong skills in data management, analysis and interpretation, preferably with practical experience in waste collection modelling
- Exceptional time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Methodical problem-solving approach with high attention to detail, including checking calculations and models
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including developing or updating data models
About you
Enthusiastic and motivated professional with a passion for sustainability and waste management, able to work collaboratively within a team and independently to deliver high-quality consultancy services.
Qualifications
- First degree in environmental science, science, mathematics, engineering or other sustainability-related subject
- Professional affiliation or membership of relevant bodies such as IEMA or CIWM
- Postgraduate degree in a relevant subject is desirable but not essential
- Eligibility to drive in the UK
