About the Role
Wood is recruiting an Environmental Policy Consultant or Senior Consultant to join its Environmental Policy and Economics team, which provides policy, technical, scientific and economic advice on national and international environmental policy development and implementation. The team supports national Governments, European Union institutions, international organisations, industry associations and companies with robust and impartial analysis that influences environmental, health and safety policies in the UK, EU and beyond. This role supports growth in the European environmental policy and economics business and involves working on projects related to air quality, industrial emissions, hazardous chemicals, climate change, water, waste and resources, natural capital and ecosystem services, among other environmental policy areas. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team with a strong forward workload and ambitious growth strategy, working in a friendly and supportive environment with opportunities for career development and international travel. Experience
- Proven track record delivering consultancy projects on national and/or international environmental, health and/or safety policy, preferably in a consultancy context
- Experience managing projects at senior consultant level
- Ability to deliver high-quality work while maintaining commercial focus
- Proven ability to develop professional networks, secure new business and prepare successful commercial proposals
- Excellent communication skills with ability to write clear, concise reports in English
- Experience with standard environmental policy development techniques such as evaluation of technical/policy measures, cost-benefit analysis, data collection and stakeholder consultation
About you
- Strong organisational skills, initiative and ability to plan work to meet deadlines
- Analytical skills including mathematical/quantitative analysis and data/statistical modelling are desirable
- Familiarity with analytical/economic techniques such as survey design, market analysis, socio-economic analysis and regulatory impact assessment is advantageous
- Understanding of public policy development and methods for assessing socio-economic and environmental impacts of government action
- Experience in environmental or policy analysis within consultancy, government, research agencies, NGOs or private sector organisations
- EU language skills are a plus
Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in environmental science, technology, engineering, environmental economics, environmental law or policy
- Good undergraduate degree in environmental science, economics or a closely related discipline
