We are expanding our Life Sciences & Research Cost Management team and seek an experienced Senior Cost Consultant to lead Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services on cutting-edge science, research, and laboratory facilities across the UK and Europe. You will work on world-class laboratories and specialised scientific environments, providing trusted commercial advice that helps clients bring innovative facilities to life. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with national and global clients in thriving science hubs including London, Oxford, and Cambridge, managing complex projects from early feasibility through to successful delivery.

Key responsibilities include leading cost management on laboratory, research, and science facility projects; partnering with clients to develop cost models, feasibility studies, and budgets; preparing robust cost plans, estimates, and benchmarking analyses; managing procurement activities and commercial negotiations; driving contract administration, cost control, and change management; mentoring junior team members; and championing continuous improvement and adoption of digital cost management tools.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience delivering Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services on laboratory, research, pharmaceutical, or other complex scientific facilities. Strong commercial awareness with detailed understanding of MEP-intensive projects and their key cost drivers. Experience using digital cost management tools such as CostX, 5D BIM, and benchmarking platforms. Confident in presenting cost advice and commercial recommendations to clients and project stakeholders.

Experienced Quantity Surveyor passionate about delivering innovative science, research, and laboratory projects. Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior team members and drive continuous improvement. Excellent communication and client management skills. Motivated to work on complex, high-profile projects that influence the next generation of research and innovation facilities.

Qualifications
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline. Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) is desirable.
