About the Role
As a Digital Energy Technical Apprentice, you will work in the field of energy management and controls for Smart Buildings and Smart Electrical Infrastructure. You will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative technologies to optimise energy usage and support sustainability goals. This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience working alongside experienced staff, gaining new skills while contributing to projects that help customers meet their net zero carbon targets.
You will assist in planning, executing, and coordinating projects and services, including designing, implementing, and optimising digital solutions such as building control systems, power distribution systems, energy monitoring systems, data analytics platforms, and energy management software. You will engage with customers to understand their energy needs and provide technical support and troubleshooting to ensure smooth operation of digital energy solutions. Additionally, you will collect and analyse energy consumption data to identify optimisation opportunities and maintain accurate documentation and reporting of project activities and customer interactions.
Training
This apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or training organisation, with at least 20% of your working hours dedicated to training or studying. Your training course will be BEMS (Building Energy Management Systems) Controls Engineer Level 4, delivered by blended learning through classroom and/or online sessions with BCIA and GROUP HORIZON LIMITED. The apprenticeship duration is 3 years, with a possible start date of Monday 07 September 2026.
Qualifications
GCSEs: 5 including Maths, English, and a STEM subject at grade 4/C or above. Candidates should inform the company of any other relevant qualifications or industry experience, as the apprenticeship can be adjusted accordingly.
You must not hold a degree in a similar subject due to UK government apprenticeship funding rules.
Experience
No prior experience is required. Enthusiasm for learning and developing new skills in digital energy management is essential.
