About the Role
Wood is seeking experienced and driven consultant ecologists to join our well-established and growing ecology team. You will support the delivery of exciting and varied projects across the country, working closely with team members and colleagues from other technical disciplines. This role offers opportunities to develop project management skills, engage in business development, and assist in training junior team members. You will provide ecological support on a variety of projects, contributing to high-quality technical outputs and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and planning policy.
Experience
- Good working knowledge of environmental legislation and planning policy
- Experience in designing and leading protected species surveys
- Experience delivering high-quality technical reports
- Experience in undertaking and leading ecological surveys for protected species and habitats
- Experience devising ecological mitigation and habitat management plans
- Experience acting as an Ecological Clerk of Works
- Experience writing and contributing to technical reports such as baseline reports, preliminary ecological appraisals, ecological mitigation strategies, and habitat management plans
- Experience in Ecological and Environmental Impact Assessments (EcIA / EIA) preferred
- Experience in project/task management of small to mid-scale projects preferred
About you
- Willingness to stay away overnight and work away from home
- Clean, full U.K. driver’s licence
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in ecology or related field
- One or more protected species licences
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
- MSc or PhD in ecology or similar preferred
