About the Role
Join Wood PLC, a global leader in engineering and consultancy, as an experienced Associate Director/Technical Director within our UK biodiversity team. This role is strategically important as we expand our portfolio of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) and pursue ambitious growth objectives. You will manage and deliver biodiversity inputs across a wide range of complex projects in sectors including low carbon and hydrogen, transport, renewables, nuclear, power, waste, minerals, and property.
As part of a diverse and passionate team of around 70 specialists, you will provide innovative and technically excellent ecology and ornithology advice, leading biodiversity elements of major development projects through all phases from business development to delivery. You will represent Wood and its clients to key stakeholders, including regulators, local authorities, NGOs, and the public.

Key responsibilities include delivering technical and consenting advice related to Development Consent Orders (DCOs) and significant infrastructure projects, leading ecological assessments and Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRA), managing quality, schedule and budget, mentoring junior staff, and networking across the wider consultancy business to enhance multidisciplinary collaboration.
Experience
- Significant senior/director level experience delivering major infrastructure projects in the UK and ideally overseas
- Proven leadership of biodiversity contributions (including HRA) to DCO projects, with Expert Witness or Examination experience preferred
- Team leadership experience within project and wider technical discipline contexts
- Detailed knowledge of the biodiversity services market and trends, with insight into adapting to evolving challenges
