About the Role
Wood Power Solutions UK is seeking an Environmental Advisor to join their team. This role is responsible for ensuring the Environmental Management System remains compliant with ISO 14001:2015, UK legislation, Wood standards, and environmental and sustainability requirements. You will provide environmental performance reports to leadership, contribute to bid submissions and tender packages, and assist in supply chain appraisals and bid reviews. The role involves preparing and maintaining project-specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts registers, Environmental Management Plans including site waste management, and ensuring project conditions and commitments are met.
You will highlight any potential issues that may disrupt project schedules, contribute to emergency response plans, and conduct regular risk-based site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with licences, consents, and waste management. You will organise and facilitate joint inspections with clients and stakeholders, document assurance activities, assign corrective actions, and track their completion.
As the focal point for environmental and sustainability issues within Power Solutions, you will liaise with client representatives, regulators, and other interested parties. You will lead investigations into environmental incidents and near misses, monitor site waste management performance, water and energy use, and emissions, ensuring all data is recorded and retained.
Additionally, you will develop and deliver environmental management awareness campaigns, training, and toolbox talks. You will ensure site reinstatement and restoration are planned and documented, and that water management is proactively managed to prevent pollution. Investigations into environmental incidents will be reported with findings, required actions, regulator comments if applicable, and lessons learnt shared.
This role requires a proactive approach to any other environmental issues that may arise within projects.
Experience
