About the Role
Do you enjoy solving problems using spatial data and want to use your GIS expertise to benefit nature? Join the Conservation Data Management Unit as a GIS Analyst, where you will support hundreds of staff across the RSPB to maximise the conservation impact of their geospatial data. You will conduct spatial analyses, assist GIS users with their projects, and focus on spatial data management to ensure data is accurate and fit for purpose. Working closely with colleagues, you will identify GIS requirements and ensure the GIS community has access to necessary data resources. Using ESRI mapping products, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, you will produce visually engaging maps and dashboards to effectively communicate vital conservation information to diverse audiences. This role requires a keen interest in developing your GIS skills and staying current with advances such as new tools, techniques, and datasets. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension or permanency based on business needs.

Requirements

Experience
- Proficient in ESRI mapping products, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
- Experience using web services to access and display geographic data
- Knowledge of spatial data management best practices
- Ability to learn and become proficient with GIS software scripting languages such as Python and SQL
- Proven ability to provide high levels of customer care

Qualifications
- No specific qualifications required, but relevant GIS experience and skills are essential

- Understanding of Remote Sensing data and techniques
- Awareness of current conservation issues
