About the Role
We are seeking an innovative and entrepreneurial Head of Engineering to lead the design and development of cutting-edge electrification systems. As a global leader in electro-mechanical drive solutions for automotive, wind, rail, marine, and aerospace sectors, the company delivers class-leading integrated electric drives focused on weight reduction, cost efficiency, compact design, and higher performance.

This senior role combines technical vision with commercial strategy to drive business growth and expand the company’s global footprint. You will lead cross-functional teams including design engineering, business development, sales, and product management, while managing strategic partnerships and joint ventures.

Key responsibilities include providing technology leadership for electro-mechanical drive solutions, managing intellectual property, developing global business models, and liaising with clients, suppliers, and senior stakeholders. This role requires a balance of high-level strategic direction and hands-on project management to ensure continued innovation and market success.

Experience
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline
- Extensive background in electro-mechanical system design including electrical machines, drive & power systems, controls, electric motors, gearboxes
- Proven global, multi-disciplinary project team management experience
- Client-facing experience with strong understanding of customer needs
- Commercially minded with a track record of business growth
- Leadership and management experience, ideally within small to medium-sized companies
- Preferably 8+ years in a technology environment combining product and service business
- Experience in electrification and business development, NPI, or strategic key account management
- Exposure to automotive, aerospace, marine, rail, or renewables sectors
- Experience working with OEMs, Tier 1/2 suppliers, startups, or engineering consultancies
- Experience in China or India is advantageous

Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
- Further degree or professional qualification is desirable
- Up-to-date technical knowledge in electric or mechanical design engineering
- Demonstrated success in senior engineering management roles with a focus on business growth
