About the Role
Equans is seeking a Head of Technical Operations to join our Sustainable FM National Accounts team on a permanent basis, working across Central Government contracts. This national, client-facing role provides strategic direction for operational delivery teams and is responsible for setting and communicating standards of statutory and contractual compliance in line with contractual agreements, company procedures, and safe systems of work.

The Head of Technical Operations will line manage a team of Technical Managers responsible for various stages of the compliance process including CAFM and Asset Management, Technical Governance, Energy, and Compliance and Assurance. This role is fundamental in managing the technical delivery workflow from CAFM setup and local control, through service delivery and documentation, to ensuring customer compliance needs are met during audit and assurance processes.

As the Senior Technical Stakeholder within the account, you will act as the link between the Equans Central Authorising Engineer team and Operational delivery functions, translating company policy and procedure into contract requirements and deliverables. Senior stakeholder management across client technical leads, independent auditing, and regulatory bodies is essential.

Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring continual improvement and SLA achievement across compliance services
- Upholding and improving contract compliance regimes
- Developing and maintaining CAFM Asset Management Strategy documents
- Communicating maintenance standard changes and compliance gaps to clients
- Providing technical governance for commercial changes and service delivery
- Collaborating with AE and SHEQ teams to uphold qualification, appointment, and training standards
- Demonstrating thorough knowledge of industry maintenance standards such as SFG20 and HTM
- Developing end-to-end technical standards and enabling operational delivery
- Providing continual improvement processes to delivery standards
- Supporting compliance audits and ensuring effective communication of remedial actions
- Managing CAFM data, asset taxonomy, and maintenance schedules
- Supporting subcontractor management and compliance gap resolution
- Contributing to contract financial performance through operational efficiency and procurement
- Providing technical governance to satisfy safe systems of work and operational delivery requirements

Requirements

Experience
- Extensive senior technical leadership managing static and mobile delivery across a varied UK-wide estate
- Strong background in Facilities Management environment
- Extensive compliance experience treating compliance as a business-as-usual requirement
- Experience managing compliance teams
- Proven management of engineering operations with budgets over £10m in public or private sectors
- Experience delivering ongoing transformational change alongside business-as-usual operations
- Skilled in managing structured customer expectations and third-party audit frameworks
- Full UK driving licence required

About you
Self-motivated, experienced and driven individual with strong leadership, strategic thinking, flexibility, collaboration, and efficiency skills. Able to establish good working relationships within teams and across the wider business. Acts as the technical subject matter expert for the account, aligning operational and strategic aims with contract and client requirements.

Qualifications
HNC, HND, degree or equivalent experience in a relevant technical discipline (Mechanical Systems preferred).
