About the Role
Equans is seeking a Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis, working primarily on our Mobile South contract. You will be responsible for ensuring all Spaces, Environmental/Temperature Control rooms and equipment are operational and available for end users, minimising downtime during breakdowns. Your duties will include fault finding on air conditioning units, refrigeration systems and chiller plant, maintaining the site’s F-Gas logbook, calculating GWPs and CO2e emissions, and performing leak checks at required frequencies. You will maintain and operate portable and fixed air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, plan and oversee subcontractors during service visits, and carry out recovery, repair, pressure testing, vacuum dehydration, charging, and re-commissioning of A/C units. You will also process planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive jobs and be available for out-of-hours call-out support.
The role involves working on a variety of equipment including chillers (wet and dry systems), cold rooms and freezers, air conditioning systems (VAV, VRV, FAT boxes), cooling towers, air handling units, pumps, water treatment, building management systems, and control systems.

Experience
Proven experience maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment related to air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Fully conversant with all major manufacturers’ systems and equipment.
About you
Reliable and proactive with strong fault-finding skills. Ability to read and work to mechanical and electrical schematic drawings. Must hold a valid driving licence. Ability to pass a DBS Basic check is essential.
Qualifications
- Recognised EITB or CITB apprenticeship or similar approved training/further education in a relevant discipline
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 qualification as an air conditioning engineer
- C&G 2079-11 F-Gas Category 1 and ODS regulations certification
- L8 Awareness
- Recognised Health and Safety qualification such as NEBOSH or IOSH is advantageous
