About the Role
Join ScottishPower as a Lead Engineer (Asset Risk) within the SP Transmission (SPT) Asset Strategy team based in Glasgow. This strategic asset management function is responsible for setting long-term asset management strategies, policies, and intervention plans for the Transmission network. You will play a key role in enabling SP Energy Networks to enhance network resilience and secure electricity supply to support economic growth as we transition towards Net Zero.
Your responsibilities will include developing strategic long-term asset risk plans, maintaining and improving maintenance strategies for Substation equipment to maximise asset availability, and enhancing condition assessment strategies to inform future investment. You will lead asset failure investigations, manage the network and asset assurance framework, and liaise with industry parties to define cost-effective asset management strategies.
As a technical leader, you will participate in industry working groups, support innovation projects, develop new tools and methods, and engage with key stakeholders including regulators and government bodies to ensure efficient asset management and delivery of outputs. Your role will be central to shaping the future of the Transmission network and supporting Scotland’s ambition to be Net Zero by 2044.
Experience
Proven experience in Transmission system assets including Construction, Operations, working practices and systems. Skilled in Transmission Primary or Secondary systems and Transmission operational environments. Experience with substation plant, auxiliaries, transformers, and reactors is essential. Knowledge of industry codes, standards, regulatory frameworks, and commercial issues related to Distribution and Transmission networks is required.
About you
Educated to Degree standard in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. Chartered membership of the IET or equivalent, or working towards this. Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly to non-technical audiences. Excellent customer service skills with a track record of meeting or exceeding expectations. Ability to write clear reports and present effectively.

Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field. Chartered Engineer status (IET or equivalent) preferred or in progress. Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements in Transmission environments is essential.
