About the Role
Wood PLC is seeking a Principal / Principal Consultant Environmental Engineer to join our Design HSE Group within the Engineering Department. You will be responsible for resolving Environmental Engineering and design issues and developing related deliverables across a range of projects at all stages of the design process. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to projects spanning the full life cycle, from studies and FEED to EPC and PMC, ensuring Wood continues to deliver quality projects that meet client requirements. Projects typically involve the energy transition, upstream oil and gas, midstream, refining, and petrochemicals sectors. Reporting to the Discipline Manager Design HSE, you will be part of a team delivering Design HSE requirements to multi-disciplinary projects, managing these requirements to ensure high-quality technical solutions and meeting project milestones. You may act as the Lead Engineer for the Environmental Engineering discipline and serve as the project focal point for environmental issues, either working independently or as part of a larger team.
Experience
Substantial experience in the HSE profession with an Environmental focus within the oil and gas industry, both UK and overseas, including FEED and EPC experience. Experience in design office project HSE management and preferably site-based HSE management roles. Background in energy transition, oil & gas, refinery, or petrochemical sectors. Experience in professional engineering contracting, environmental engineering, or consultancy roles. Extensive experience with EIA and related permitting processes. Proficient in computer modelling with relevant application software. Fully conversant with ISO 14001 standards.

Driven and committed engineer with the ability to make a genuine difference on projects across their full life cycle. Strong leadership skills to act as Lead Engineer when required. Able to manage environmental issues effectively and collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams.
Qualifications
Relevant first degree and preferably further qualifications in Engineering and Design HSE / Environmental disciplines. Chartered or equivalent status in an Engineering Institution and/or relevant Technical HSE / Environmental professional bodies is preferred.
