
Location
Flexible within Wales; home and/or office-based depending on office availability. This role requires travel throughout Wales and occasional short stays away across the UK.

£27,123 per annum (pro rata)
About the Role
Volunteers are vital to enhancing our organisational capacity and enabling a bigger, better impact for nature. This project aims to increase volunteer capacity to sustainably monitor, protect, and advocate for the UK's most endangered species. Supported by the Peoples Postcode Lottery (PPL), the UK project team has recently expanded and developed new species projects. You will join at a critical time to help deliver the objectives of the PPL project by supporting project teams to develop self-sustaining, volunteer-led initiatives. Your role will include capacity building and supporting staff in initial species project setup, as well as developing and progressing volunteer teams' skills. You will work closely with species teams, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and expansion. This is a fixed-term post until 31 March 2028, based in Wales with flexible working options.
Experience
- Proven experience working as part of a team to deliver, monitor, and report on projects
- Experience in training and supporting staff and volunteers in new ways of working and a range of tasks
- Experience in volunteer management
- Experience in developing and organising training events, workshops, or facilitated discussions and meetings
- Ability to produce clear written communications and materials
About you
- Passionate about the vital role volunteers and communities play in delivering long-term, sustainable conservation
- Good understanding of species recovery, biodiversity, and environmental issues in Wales, including people mobilisation
- Ability to work well within a cross-functional project team involving species teams, volunteers, and stakeholders
- Strong persuasion and influencing skills with a wide range of people internally and externally
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to find creative solutions
- Proven time management, organisational skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances
- Desirable: Experience working with and engaging communities
