About the Role
You will join AtkinsRéalis, a world-class engineering services and nuclear organisation, working within the Powergrids team focused on electricity transmission and distribution, gas storage, battery storage, green hydrogen, power and industrial assets. As a Senior Civil / Structural Engineer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering transformative projects that support net zero energy goals and future energy security.

This role offers a stimulating variety of work, ranging from feasibility studies including optioneering and front-end engineering design, through to detailed design, site surveys, condition assessments and design verification.

You will work on a wide variety of tasks and projects, either individually or as part of larger multi-disciplinary teams. Your responsibilities will include mentoring and training junior colleagues, managing technical aspects of civil and structural engineering projects across various design phases, pricing works, preparing technical proposals, and conducting condition and structural assessments of existing structures to determine suitability for reuse.

You will also coordinate design activities across multidisciplinary teams, prepare specifications and scoping documents, and lead design capability within the GTC, India team.

Experience
- Proven experience in civil and structural engineering projects, ideally within the electricity supply industry.
- Experience with steel and reinforced concrete design using UK and international codes and standards.
- Experience in supervising, developing, and mentoring junior engineers.
- Experience managing technical aspects of projects from optioneering through to detailed design.
- Experience in condition and structural assessment of existing structures is desirable.
- Experience working on HV substations is advantageous but not mandatory.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MEng/MSc) qualified Civil or Structural Engineer.
- Chartered Engineer status and membership of ICE or IStructE is desirable.
- Strong technical background with relevant design experience.
- Security clearance may be required for this role.
