As a Senior Substation Secondary (P&C) Design Engineer, you will work on substation design projects focused on electricity transmission and distribution networks. You will support projects across the wider Power & Energy Solutions team and AtkinsRéalis business, working with clients such as National Grid and SSEN both in the UK and internationally.

You will gain experience delivering multi-disciplinary design projects from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) to Detailed Design. The role includes personal development, training, and support towards professional chartership, with opportunities to contribute to impactful projects.

Your responsibilities will include providing technical leadership on FEED and Detailed Design workstreams, ensuring quality assurance and technical governance of deliverables such as protection schemes, CT/VT sizing, relay configuration philosophies, SLDs, and I/O schedules. You will review P&C aspects of projects including protection settings and coordination, substation automation architectures, wiring diagrams, control room layouts, and protection panels.

Coordination with multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and suppliers is key, as is managing tender packages, responding to technical queries, and producing high-quality technical offers. You will attend and chair design and hazard review meetings and conduct site visits as required.

This role is client-focused, requiring strong communication and teamworking skills, along with business development capabilities.

Experience
Proven experience in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Protection & Control (P&C) design, preferably up to 400kV but not essential. Experience managing tender packages, technical queries, and delivering high-quality P&C technical offers. Ability to chair design review meetings and conduct site visits. Experience working in consultancy environments is highly valued.

Qualifications
