About the Role
Wood PLC is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Ecologist to join our well-established and growing ecology team. You will support the delivery of exciting and varied projects across the UK, working closely with multidisciplinary teams. This role offers opportunities to manage a wide variety of projects, take on business development responsibilities, and contribute to the growth and development of the ecology team. You will lead ecological support activities including survey scoping and methods, biodiversity legislation, policy and licensing procedures, and ecological mitigation techniques. Additionally, you will prepare and ideally review reports and documentation to support consenting regimes. Requirements

Experience
- Broad knowledge of UK ecology including ecological survey scoping and methods
- Experience in Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA)
- Experience in project or task management including financial management
- Experience writing and ideally reviewing technical reports and deliverables
- Stakeholder engagement and client/contractor liaison experience
- Experience designing and delivering ecological mitigation
- Ecological Clerk of Works experience
- Holding one or more protected species licences
- Flexibility to stay overnight and work away from home
- Clean, full UK driving licence

About You
Motivated and experienced ecologist with strong leadership skills, able to manage multiple projects and develop business opportunities. You are collaborative, adaptable, and committed to professional growth and team development.

Qualifications
- Required: Undergraduate degree in ecology or related field
- Desirable: MSc or PhD in ecology or similar
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
- Experience writing European Protected Species licences
- Working knowledge of biodiversity offsetting and net gain principles
- Experience in Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA)
- Experience in advanced bat survey and sound analysis
