About the Role
Are you looking to advance your career in hydrology and flood risk management? Wood PLC is seeking a talented and ambitious Senior Hydrologist/ Flood Risk Management Specialist to join our Water Management business, which is experiencing sustained strong growth. You will apply your skills to develop solutions for complex water environment challenges on high-profile projects. Your expertise will support flood risk and drainage impact assessments, flood frequency analysis, low flows assessment, hydraulic modelling, and sustainable drainage systems for new developments and infrastructure.
You will contribute to a diverse range of water-related projects including urban masterplanning, power, transportation, and minerals developments. Your responsibilities will include managing small projects, coordinating field surveys, leading data analysis and modelling tasks, authoring technical reports and presentations, and developing proposals. You will work alongside a wide range of environmental and engineering disciplines in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Experience
- Proven track record of technical project delivery in hydrology and/or flood risk management within a consultancy setting.
- Experience in flood risk and drainage impact assessments, flood frequency analysis, low flows analysis, and hydraulic modelling.
- Some experience managing small projects or a strong interest in developing project management skills.
- Practical experience with MS Office tools (Excel, Access), GIS packages such as ArcGIS, and specialist hydrological or hydraulic modelling software (e.g. FEH/WINFAP, Catchmod, HEC Suite, FloodModeller Pro, Infoworks ICM).
- Understanding of legislative and policy context relevant to hydrology and flood risk management.
- A full UK driving licence is advantageous.

Qualifications

- Postgraduate qualification (e.g. Masters in hydrology) is advantageous but not essential.
- Working towards or achieved chartership with a relevant professional body.
