About the Role
Wood PLC is seeking a Senior/Principal Environmental Engineer to join our Design HSE Group within the Engineering Department on an agency basis for 6 months. You will play a key role in resolving Design HSE and Environmental engineering and design issues, developing related deliverables across a variety of projects at all design stages. This role offers the opportunity to contribute across the full project life cycle, from studies and FEED to EPC and PMC, ensuring Wood delivers quality projects that meet client requirements. Projects typically span the energy transition, upstream oil and gas, midstream, refining, and petrochemicals sectors. You will work alongside an experienced team, potentially acting as the project focal point for environmental issues, either as the sole Environmental Engineer or as part of a larger team. Reporting to the Discipline Manager Design HSE, you will manage Design HSE requirements to deliver high-quality technical solutions and meet project milestones.

Requirements

Experience
- Substantial experience in the HSE profession with an Environmental focus in the oil and gas industry, both UK and overseas
- Experience across FEED and EPC phases, including design office project HSE management and preferably site-based HSE management roles
- Background in energy transition, oil & gas, refinery, or petrochemical sectors
- Experience in professional engineering contracting, environmental engineering, or consultancy roles
- Extensive experience with EIA and related permitting processes
- Proficient in computer modelling with relevant application software
- Fully conversant with ISO 14001 standards

Driven and committed engineer with the ability to make a genuine difference on projects. Able to manage environmental issues effectively and collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams. Strong communication and project management skills are essential to ensure delivery of high-quality solutions that meet client and project requirements.

Qualifications
- Relevant first degree and preferably further degree level qualifications in Engineering and Design HSE / Environmental disciplines
- Preferably Chartered or equivalent status in an Engineering Institution and/or relevant Technical HSE / Environmental professional bodies
- Significant expertise in one or more Technical HSE disciplines with an Environmental emphasis
