About the Role
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a dynamic and motivated Senior / Principal Geo-Environmental Consultant specialising in EIA, contaminated land and brownfield development to join our award-winning Contaminated Land & Hydrogeology team within the Sustainable Land and Resource Management Practice. You will work alongside industry leaders delivering innovative brownfield solutions to major UK infrastructure projects across transportation, energy, buildings and places, and water markets.

Your role will include assisting with coordination and delivery of environmental work by multi-disciplinary teams including EIA, options appraisals, environmental management and consenting, focusing on soils and geology. You will manage projects technically and financially, review technical work, provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff, liaise with clients, stakeholders, regulators and subcontractors, and support senior management in business development and commercial offer preparation. You will collaborate with the local and wider Sustainable Land and Resource Management team across the UK.

Requirements

Experience
- Relevant post-graduate experience ideally within a consultancy environment.
- Strong technical, people and project management skills.
- Proven track record in winning and delivering high-profile work.
- Technical leadership and delivery of Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site Investigations, remediation design and verification/validation.
- Commercial awareness including tender preparation.
- Good working knowledge of relevant legislation, technical guidance, industry standards and best practice for EIA, consenting, contaminated land, materials management and waste.
- Experience managing NEC3/4 and/or ICE contracts is beneficial.
- Experience with electricity substation and high voltage-related land contamination sites is desirable.
- Knowledge of MMPs and DoW Code of Practice, ideally with Qualified Person (QP) status.
- Experience in EIAs, due diligence and permitting.
- Beneficial experience in qualitative and quantitative controlled waters and human health risk assessment, including analytical modelling packages such as P20, ConSim, CLEA.
- Experience working with geospatial data (GIS) using QGIS and/or ArcGIS.
- Experience managing data on large projects, especially GIS and AGS data.

Qualifications
- Higher education qualification in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. geology, geography, hydrogeology, chemistry, earth sciences, environmental science).
- Good understanding of EIA and consenting.
- Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body is required or willingness to achieve chartered status within 6 to 12 months with support.
