About the Role
Hoare Lea is a human-centric and planet-conscious engineering consultancy offering intelligent and sustainable solutions to complex design challenges for the built environment across the UK and beyond. As one of the UK’s largest building engineering consultancies, you will collaborate with some of the best engineers and specialists, working on high-profile, multi-disciplinary projects such as Canolfan Pentre Awel in Carmarthen, Multi-Megawatt Data Centre Campus, Oxford North in Oxford, One Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, Gwynfaen in Swansea, and the nature-based net-zero neighbourhood of Earls Court in London.
As a Graduate Sustainability Consultant, you will be exposed to a variety of tasks and projects from day one, including:
- Working on live projects across sectors such as healthcare, hotels, retail, and residential
- Undertaking building performance simulation and energy-related workstreams using diverse modelling tools and techniques
- Developing energy strategies to lead sustainability innovation
- Assisting in the delivery of environmental assessments including BREEAM, WELL, HQM from early design stages to completion
- Supporting whole life carbon reporting and Net Zero Carbon strategies
- Conducting site surveys and researching ground-breaking technologies
- Participating in continuous professional development and learning opportunities
- Supporting the development of holistic Sustainability Strategies where needed
Beyond project work, you may also engage in industry research, development studies, and authoring guidance, contributing directly to the advancement of sustainability within the built environment. Communication and collaboration with project teams, clients, and stakeholders will be a key part of your role.

Experience
Previous placement or work experience in a similar industry is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications
- Expected or achieved 2.1 or above degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Architecture, Built Environment, or a related discipline
- A Masters or relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous but not required
- Knowledge or awareness of one or more of the following is beneficial: BREEAM, WELL, Whole Life Carbon, Energy Modelling
