About the Role
Hoare Lea is a human-centric and planet-conscious engineering consultancy offering intelligent and sustainable solutions to complex design challenges for the built environment across the UK and beyond. As a Graduate Sustainability Consultant, you will join one of the UK’s largest building engineering consultancies, collaborating with highly skilled engineers and working on some of the most high-profile projects such as Canolfan Pentre Awel in Carmarthen, Multi-Megawatt Data Centre Campus, Oxford North, One Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, Gwynfaen in Swansea, and the nature-based net-zero neighbourhood of Earls Court in London.
Your day-to-day tasks will vary, exposing you to all aspects of sustainability consultancy to help you discover your strengths. You could be working on live projects across sectors including healthcare, hotels, retail, and residential; undertaking building performance simulation and energy-related workstreams using various modelling tools and techniques; developing energy strategies to lead sustainability innovation; assisting with environmental assessments such as BREEAM, WELL, and HQM from early design stages to completion; developing knowledge of whole life carbon reporting to support Net Zero Carbon strategies; undertaking site surveys; researching ground-breaking technologies; and supporting the development of holistic Sustainability Strategies.
Beyond project work, you may also engage in industry research and development studies, author industry guidance, and participate in national design commissions and influential industry bodies, providing opportunities to directly influence the sustainability sector. Communication will be key, as you will liaise regularly with project teams, clients, and end users, attending collaborative meetings.

Experience
Previous placement or work experience in a similar industry is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications
- Expected or achieved 2.1 or above degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Architecture, Built Environment, or a related discipline
- A Masters or relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous but not required
- Knowledge or awareness of one or more of the following is beneficial: BREEAM, WELL, Whole Life Carbon, Energy Modelling
