About the Role
Hoare Lea is a human-centric and planet-conscious engineering consultancy offering intelligent and sustainable solutions to complex design challenges for the built environment across the UK and beyond. As a Graduate Sustainability Consultant, you will join one of the UK’s largest building engineering consultancies, collaborating with some of the best engineers and working on high-profile, multi-disciplinary projects such as Canolfan Pentre Awel in Carmarthen, Multi-Megawatt Data Centre Campus, Oxford North in Oxford, One Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, Gwynfaen in Swansea, and the nature-based net-zero neighbourhood of Earls Court in London.

Your day-to-day tasks will vary, exposing you to all aspects of sustainability consultancy to help you discover your strengths. You will work on live projects from day one across diverse sectors including healthcare, hotels, retail, and residential. Responsibilities include building performance simulation and energy modelling using various tools and techniques, developing energy strategies to lead sustainability innovation, assisting in environmental assessments such as BREEAM, WELL, and HQM from early design stages to completion, and supporting whole life carbon reporting to aid clients’ Net Zero Carbon strategies.

You will also undertake site surveys, research emerging technologies, engage in continuous professional development, and support the creation of holistic Sustainability Strategies. Beyond project work, there are opportunities to contribute to industry research, development studies, and authoring guidance, influencing the wider built environment sector. Communication is key, as you will liaise regularly with project teams, clients, and stakeholders.

Why Join Us?
At Hoare Lea, you will collaborate with industry experts on progressive and innovative projects from day one. Our structured Career Paths framework and accredited training scheme, supported by dedicated mentors and supervisors, will help you advance your career and pursue Chartership if desired. We offer a supportive environment that values your wellbeing and individuality, with benefits including a 9-day fortnight scheme, community groups, social and networking events, private medical cover, electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, stock options, 25 days annual leave (increasing with service), and flexible hybrid working arrangements.
