About the Role
Reporting to the Overhead Line Design Manager, you will be responsible for developing and delivering engineering solutions from feasibility through to detailed engineering design for Transmission network projects (132kV, 275kV & 400kV). You will provide basic and detailed engineering specifications and designs, driving innovation and offering effective technical support and advice throughout the project lifecycle. Leading and managing a team of Design and Senior Design Engineers, you will support pre-contract design development and project delivery by overseeing technical aspects of Overhead Line (OHL) systems. Your role includes assessing engineering documentation for feasibility and compliance, supporting budget preparation, advising on construction and outage programmes, and ensuring all designs comply with legislation, policies, and operational requirements. You will also lead technical tender assessments, support Project Development and Delivery teams, and represent departments on OHL engineering issues, standards, and best practices. This role requires flexibility in working hours and occasional short trips away from home.

Experience
Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience, working towards membership of a professional institution. Significant experience in Transmission network overhead line and associated equipment engineering, including responsible positions. Proficient in using PLS-CADD software.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across departments and businesses. Ability to implement, apply, and promote CDM and Health & Safety best practices within a design environment. Willingness to undertake short trips and flexible working hours to meet role requirements.

Qualifications
Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. Progression towards professional institution membership is expected.
