About the Role
As a Transmission Overhead Lines Technician, you will ensure compliance with ESQC Regulations and internal inspection policies, including Asset-01-021, Asset-01-029, OHL-03-103 & TRANS-03-004. Your role will be technically innovative to improve network resilience, ensuring Transmission assets meet prescribed capability and performance expectations. You will deliver Plant and Overhead Line Inspection & Maintenance, Capital Work Programmes, Faults and Emergency works on the Transmission system while providing excellent customer service, value for money, and maximising operational efficiency.

You will be responsible for resource planning and directing staff working on the Transmission system, providing accurate reporting on inspections to the Lead Engineer, identifying urgent issues, and liaising with asset protection and customer enquiries. When required, you will provide Supervisory cover for Team Leaders.

Managing direct staff includes performance management, objective setting, and day-to-day planning and coordination of work deliverables. You will oversee the development of Trainees including Apprentices, Skills Seekers, and Adult Craft Trainees. You will also manage Contractors and external teams responsible for essential maintenance and protective treatments on high-voltage Transmission towers.

Working towards an authorisation level appropriate to the role, you will ensure compliance with Company Health, Safety and Environmental requirements, promoting a zero-accident culture. You will capture feedback from Operational Safety, Compliance and Quality audits, address non-conformances, and deliver excellent customer service. You will contribute to team goals by providing support, advice, encouragement, clear direction, and coaching when appropriate.

This role places you at the heart of Scotland’s ambition to be Net Zero by 2044, supporting the rapid growth needed in renewable energy through investment in the transmission network.

Experience
Demonstrable technical competence in Transmission Operation and Maintenance activities. Previous experience managing work programmes, resource planning, leading and motivating teams. Knowledge of Transmission plant and equipment and Health & Safety processes. Experience with outage and resource planning, IT systems, and embracing new technologies for efficient Inspection and data capture of Asset Health.

About you
Educated to ONC level or possessing relevant business experience. Full valid driving licence and Site Management Safety Training / Safety Passport. Ability to drive quality and performance, manage contractors, and promote a zero-accident culture. Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide clear direction, coaching, and support to your team.
