About the Role
Reporting to the Overhead Line Design Manager, you will develop and deliver engineering solutions from feasibility to detailed design for Transmission network projects (132kV and above). You will manage projects of greater value and complexity, supervise and develop less experienced staff, and provide detailed engineering specifications and designs. Your role includes innovation, technical support, advice, coaching, and input throughout the lifecycle of a portfolio of projects.

You will lead the technical aspects of Overhead Line (OHL) systems and associated equipment, ensuring strong emphasis on Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental compliance, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include assessing engineering documentation, feasibility, and compliance with client requirements; supporting budget preparation; recommending construction and outage programmes; preparing engineering specifications and cost estimates for high value, complex projects; and resolving statutory, land, or other consents related to OHL routes.

Additional duties involve technical assessment of tender submissions, defining OHL equipment requirements for System Construction Authorisation and project documentation, preparing and reviewing OHL drawings and specifications, controlling correspondence and drawings issued to project teams, and providing technical support on design, construction, operation, and maintenance of OHL systems.

This role requires flexibility in working hours and occasional short trips away from home to meet job requirements.

Experience
Educated to Engineering degree or HND/HNC with equivalent experience.
Significant experience delivering engineering solutions and designs for high value and complex Transmission Overhead Line projects.
Proficient in PLS-CADD and other OHL design software.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with and influence senior managers.
Experience writing clear and concise technical reports and documentation.

Qualifications
