About the Role
Join ScottishPower as a Lead Engineer (Asset Risk) within the SP Transmission (SPT) Asset Strategy team based in Glasgow. This strategic asset management function sets long-term asset management strategies, policies, and intervention plans for the Transmission network. You will play a key role in developing strategic long-term asset risk plans, maintaining and enhancing condition assessment strategies for Substation equipment, and managing asset risk and assurance frameworks. Your responsibilities include leading asset failure investigations, liaising with industry parties, and representing SP Energy Networks in technical engagements with key stakeholders. You will also provide technical leadership by participating in industry working groups, supporting innovation projects, and developing new tools and methods to improve business capability and efficiency. This role supports the transition to Net Zero by enhancing network resilience and securing electricity supply to support economic growth.

Experience
Educated to degree standard in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience. Chartered membership of the IET or equivalent, or working towards this. Proven knowledge of Transmission network technical challenges, including Transmission Primary or Secondary systems and operational environments. Experience with Transmission system assets such as construction, operations, and working practices. Specialist knowledge in substation plant, auxiliaries, transformers, and reactors. Familiarity with industry codes, standards, regulatory frameworks, and roles of Electricity System Operator (ESO), Transmission Owner (TO), and Distribution Network Operator (DNO).

Strong technical leadership and communication skills with the ability to write clear reports and present complex technical matters to non-technical audiences. Excellent customer service orientation with a track record of meeting or exceeding customer expectations. Ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders including regulators and government bodies. Committed to supporting innovation and continuous improvement in asset risk management.
Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline. Chartered Engineer status (IET or equivalent) preferred or actively pursuing chartership. Knowledge of health and safety requirements within Transmission operational environments. Understanding of commercial, financial, and strategic organisational aims related to Distribution and Transmission networks.
