About the Role
We are recruiting two Mechanical & Electrical Technicians to join our team at Farmoor Water Treatment Works. In this role, you will use your mechanical and electrical expertise to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision. Your work will ensure that our sites remain operational, helping to reduce pollution and positively impact the environment.

You will carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment following company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns. Investigating and diagnosing complex faults, you will perform repairs promptly to avoid process interruptions. You will provide technical advice, refer to current technical knowledge, and may support or train technical trainees.

Typical equipment you will work on includes pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as variable speed drives (VSDs), automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable logic controllers, chemical handling and dosing equipment.

You will also participate in a standby rota following relevant training. All necessary PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card are provided.

Requirements

Experience
You should be a time-served electrical apprentice with significant experience working in a true multi-skilled electrical capacity. Ideally, you will have been upskilled with a mechanical qualification to enable you to inspect, maintain, diagnose faults, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently. Candidates with only mechanical or electrical experience will be considered for development to dual-skilled status.

Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential. The role requires physical fitness as you will work in confined spaces after completing appropriate training. A valid driving licence is mandatory.

About you
You are a motivated and skilled technician who takes pride in delivering high-quality work safely and efficiently. You have a proactive approach to problem-solving and are willing to participate in training and development opportunities. You understand the importance of teamwork and supporting colleagues, including trainees.

You are physically fit and able to work in confined spaces and varied environments. You have a strong commitment to health and safety and environmental protection.

Qualifications
Essential qualifications include an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering. Mechanical NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification is highly desirable or the willingness to upskill in this area.
