Hours
38 Hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus standby rota

Salary
Up to £45,000 per annum depending on skills and experience. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can increase earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our team at the Bourne End water production site. In this role, you will use your mechanical and electrical expertise to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision. Your work will ensure our sites remain operational, supporting the delivery of clean water to millions of customers while actively helping to reduce environmental pollution.

Your responsibilities will include carrying out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns. You will investigate plant failures, diagnose complex faults, and carry out repairs promptly to avoid process interruptions. You will also provide technical advice, keep up-to-date with technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees when required.

Equipment you will work on includes various pumps and control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as variable speed drives (VSDs), automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable logic controllers, chemical handling and dosing equipment. You will also participate in a standby rota following relevant training.

All necessary PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.

Requirements

Experience
- Time-served electrical apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems.
- Ideally upskilled with a mechanical qualification (NVQ2/3) to work safely and efficiently on both mechanical and electrical plant equipment.
- Experience working in a multi-skilled capacity is essential.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues is crucial.
- Physical fitness to work in confined spaces following successful completion of appropriate training.
- Valid driving licence is essential.

Qualifications
- Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent.
- ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering.
- Mechanical NVQ2/3 or willingness to upskill mechanically is crucial.
- Completion of essential company training to participate in standby rota and overtime opportunities.
