About the Role
As an Operations Engineer (Electrical), you will take a proactive and reactive approach to engineering challenges at Whitelee Windfarm. You will carry out duties of a Senior Authorised Person and Control Person as defined in the ScottishPower Electrical Safety Rules, ensuring a safe system of work for preventative or corrective activities related to electrical infrastructure. Your role includes supporting technical engineering solutions in real time, mentoring and auditing contracting and internal staff authorised under Electrical Safety Rules, and planning and delivering key asset management interventions to meet critical performance metrics.
You will be responsible for site-wide safety and technical inspections and audits across the ScottishPower Renewables portfolio, producing detailed reports and coordinating the resolution of emergent electrical issues identified by Site Operations. You will indirectly manage electrical subcontractors, ensuring all site electrical activities are planned and executed safely and efficiently to maintain optimal site performance without compromising safety.
Contributing to the development and ongoing assessment of contracting and internal staff, you will apply diagnostic and fault-finding techniques using specialist equipment to determine root causes and establish corrective strategies. Supporting the Electrical Networks Operations Manager, you will help create and develop policies and processes for managing electrical infrastructure and provide technical input to Technical Services and Construction Engineering teams. You will also verify the accuracy of documents, drawings, and schematics prior to handover to the Operations & Maintenance team and witness commissioning of plant and apparatus where practicable.
As part of your responsibilities, you will provide emergency call-out response for allocated sites, managing resources to ensure safety and system availability during site emergencies. You will prioritise and respond to requests from field teams, ensuring the safety of the system and operatives at all times.
