About the Role
Join SP Energy Networks and help create a better future, quicker by leading engineering solutions for transmission network projects (132kV+). Reporting to the Overhead Line Principal Engineer within the Strategic Team, you will lead the technical design and delivery of cable and overhead line (OHL) systems, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. You will act as the primary technical interface with EPC and OEM contractors, review engineering documentation for feasibility and compliance, and prepare specifications and cost estimates for complex, high-value designs. Your role includes resolving statutory, land, and consent issues, evaluating tender submissions, managing technical correspondence, and ensuring designs meet legislation and operational standards. You will lead resolution of site and construction issues, support tender assessments, provide technical guidance to project teams, and promote industry best practices and innovation. Additionally, you will contribute to training and development initiatives and mentor junior staff while collaborating across global engineering teams.

Experience
Extensive experience in transmission overhead lines and related equipment.
Proven success in delivering complex transmission cable and OHL designs.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to apply CDM and health & safety best practices in design.
Experience representing engineering decisions and standards at senior levels.

Qualifications
Degree or HND/HNC in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
