We are seeking an Assistant Benchmarking Estimator to join our team. This role focuses on capturing and utilising robust and real data from projects to support benchmarking, which is a key tool in managing pre-construction and delivery outcomes and supporting customers and partners in proposal development and change management.

The role involves benchmarking major complex infrastructure projects across transportation and energy sectors, including:
- Collection and aggregation of cost, time and carbon data from projects in preconstruction and delivery to produce consistent, comparable and meaningful benchmarking data
- Collaborating with preconstruction and delivery teams to set up and maintain cost, time and carbon data efficiently

Core activities:
- Collate cost and production data from projects, re-process raw data as needed to generate accurate benchmarks consistent with the benchmarking structure, and validate these benchmarks
- Capture and record engineering data for all assets benchmarked
- Prepare and finalise data on templates in a consistent and structured way for system upload
- Support development of automated data collection processes by working with relevant teams to improve data structuring and processing for more frequent benchmarking cycles
- Assist preconstruction and delivery teams to incorporate benchmark coding in estimates, forecasts, finance and planning systems for systematic and periodic data harvesting
- Travel to various project locations to meet teams and collate data, although travel is not expected to be regular

Supporting activities:
- Support preconstruction and project teams in using the benchmarking system and gather feedback for improvements
- Provide relevant comparable benchmarks from the system to support preconstruction and delivery activities
- Assist teams in producing options assessments comparing cost, time and carbon using system data and other sources

Deliverables & Controls:
- Provide consistent and accurate benchmarking data to support governance and decision-making at bid and preconstruction stages
- Deliver timely, accurate and useful input to estimating, commercial and optioneering support on request
- Contribute to continual improvement of benchmarking processes and systems through learning and recommendations

Experience
- Demonstrable industry experience in a technical role (engineering or estimating) on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects
- Understanding of construction methods, processes and temporary works
- Experience in bid, preconstruction or construction delivery phases involving major, complex civil engineering projects
- Good interpersonal skills to develop working relationships at all levels across the business
- Good planning, management and organisation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills
