About the Role
Join SP Energy Networks (SPEN) as a Project Controls Manager responsible for implementing defined reporting, planning, cost control, risk, baseline, and change management processes across a strategic portfolio of projects valued at approximately £1 billion. You will embed project control standards and quality requirements across a programme of strategic projects, working closely with PMO teams, project managers, and delivery teams to monitor and control cost, schedule, risk, and change. This role involves coordinating integration of schedules, budgets, risks, and reporting to provide consolidated programme-level insights, supporting project controls teams with standardised structures and effective techniques, and generating management and regulatory reports. You will facilitate alignment between project teams and portfolio controls requirements, support adoption of digital tools such as Power BI, CEMAR, and Primavera P6, and contribute to continuous improvement by championing lessons learned and best practices. The role requires leadership of multidisciplinary teams across multiple project locations and occasional travel to project sites in Scotland. This position is key to supporting the delivery of £5.4 billion investment in the GB electricity grid over the next five years, including new overhead lines and substations.
Experience
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in large-scale, complex infrastructure or energy EPC projects.
- UK transmission/distribution upgrade project experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Proven leadership skills with experience leading multidisciplinary teams and driving collaboration across multiple projects and contractors.
- Strong knowledge of governance frameworks including portfolio, programme, and project governance.
- Familiarity with NEC4 ECC Options C and E contracts, particularly in project controls, risk, and change management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, MSP, P6/OPC, SAP, Autodesk Construction Cloud, CEMAR, and Power BI.

Qualifications
