About the Role
Join SP Energy Networks and help create a better future, quicker by harnessing technology and innovation to build the networks of tomorrow. As a Senior Engineer (Design) within the Major Distributed Generation (DG) team, you will play a pivotal role in approving DG designs, ensuring all proposals comply with SPEN standards. You will facilitate a smooth transition from design to delivery by providing clear, actionable instructions to delivery teams and collaborate closely with Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) to ensure their installation designs meet specifications and contribute to the safe, secure, and sustainable operation of the network.
Your responsibilities will include planning and designing the district distribution network, performing system analysis to determine load, connections, network alterations, and reinforcement needs. You will deliver solutions aligned with Asset Management policies and customer requirements, lead the approval of staged design submissions from ICPs, and act as the primary interface between ICPs and internal teams. You will manage connection requests and quotations in line with regulatory obligations, optimise value from contracts, and drive performance improvements through analysis and customer feedback.
Additionally, you will champion a safety-first culture, ensure compliance with health and safety standards, and mentor less experienced team members, graduates, and trainees to build team capability. This role offers excellent career progression opportunities and support within a dynamic and innovative environment focused on renewable electricity and network security.
